Ian Wilson

Ian Wilson is an award-winning Irish composer noted for his prolific output, studying at the University of Ulster where he achieved a PhD in Composition. The university commissioned him to write the orchestral work Rise, which was in celebration of their 10th anniversary.
His opera commissions include Minsk, which was commissioned by the Feldkirch Festival and he has already written over sixty works performed internationally by ensembles such as the National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland, the London Mozart Players and Belgrade Philharmonic.
Artistically Wilson draws his inspiration from many areas and writes music encompassing a wide spectrum. He has also received prizes for his works Running, Thinking, Finding and was awarded the Macaulay Fellowship within the Arts Council of Ireland
